Adventures with Stone around the World

August, 2001 -- Egypt

I have just finished two days of filming with the BBC in the windblown desert of Egypt.

We have been exploring the techniques the ancient Egyptians used for lowering 100 ton sarchaughaus down 30 meter shafts and creating sand traps to prevent potential looters.

February, 2000 -- Back to China

I am finally getting serious about bringing garden stones from China. These rocks have been called many different things -- scholar stones, appreciation stones and viewing stones. However they are called they are used in great abundance in any proper Chinese Garden.

I have made arrangements with Dr. Zhong (the foremost Chinese specialist in this subject) for the importation and installation of these magnificent stones.

Aswan, Egypt -- March 23, 1999

This was from a project for NOVA on PBS, called "Mysteries of Lost Empires --The Pharoah's Obelisk"

This project re-created the raising of a 30-ton obelisk.

I finally showed them it can be done but they still did not let me play with the big one...bunch of stuffy beaurocrats!
